Applications are being accepted by the College Place School District for Traffic Safety Education Behind the Wheel Instructors. This position is being posted for internal and external consideration at this time. Interested internal candidates will need to apply online by 4:00 pm Tuesday, December 4, 2018 to be considered prior to external candidate applicants. The position is open until filled. There is not a guaranteed amount of hours with this position. Also, these hours will typically be outside of the regular school day.
Required Qualifications:
- Traffic Safety Behind the Wheel Certification* (or the ability to obtain this certification)
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse.
Desired Qualifications:
- Successful experience as a Traffic Safety Education Behind the Wheel Instructor
- Bilingual and biliterate in the Spanish language.

Assigned Building Principal or Designee
Contract & Benefits:
$30 per hour worked
*How to obtain the required certification:
- Complete a behind the wheel conditional certificate course, which consists of at least sixty clock hours of instruction. The 60 hours is broken down as follows:
-Observation of behind-the-wheel teaching methods (at least 12 hours)
-Supervised behind-the-wheel teaching techniques (at least 6 hours)
-Remainder of the time can be spent observing the class or other agreed upon activites
- Possess a valid Washington state driver's license (or a valid license from another state provided you are a resident of that state).
- Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Have at least five years of licensed driving experience.
- Provide a current satisfactory driving record to the employing school district on an annual basis.
- Provide verification to the office of the superintendent of public instruction that the employing school district has determined that you comply with all of the requirements set forth in this chapter.
- Hold a conditional teacher certificate with a TSE BTW endorsement.
