POSITION & BENEFITS:

Job Title:  21st CCLC Program Tutor

Reports to:  21st CCLC Site Coordinator

Position: 3 hours per day, Monday through Thursday 2pm -5pm

 

Salary:  $16.28

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated competency in core-content subject areas (Math, Reading, Writing, etc.), including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Mathematics) subjects
  • Strong interest in working with students in an educational setting and supporting learning experiences.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish is considered helpful. District tests to verify skill levels.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively mentor and engage students in remedial and enrichment activities.
  • Model and communicate 21st CCLC expectations and best practices, including SEL-based mentoring and tutoring skills, asking open-ended questions and more.
  • Reinforce rigor in learning and individual responsibility, and improving writing, reading, math, and non-cognitive academic skills in all 21st CCLC attendees.
  • Attend weekly meetings with Site Coordinators for professional development and grant guidance.
  • Work with school personnel to identify and recruit students to attend program.
  • Participate in the YPQI/YPQA site based continual improvement model/framework.
  • Prepare and maintain daily attendance records.
  • Provide positive, consistent follow-up with students.
  • Attend various required professional development trainings mandated by OPSI or site throughout the year.
  • Model academic excellence and encourage academic successes during the school day, particularly with program attendees.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
  • Generally, the job requires:
    • ~ 5% lifting ~ 40 lbs.
    • ~ 55% of the work day standing, reaching, bending, stooping, walking
    • ~ 40% of the time working from a sitting position
  • This job is performed under temperature variations consistent with indoor and outdoor temperatures.
  • This job may require interaction with students displaying aggression, non-compliance, and other conduct problems.
